аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û2023 has earned a spot in the Fiske Guide to Colleges 2025. This year marks the university’s eighth consecutive year claiming a spot in the bestselling college guide. 

“Whether diving into the sea or into their studies, аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û2023 students are filled with school spirit,” the guide reads. 

Compiled by former New York Times education editor Edward B. Fiske, the publication has served as an authoritative source for college-bound students and their parents for more than 40 years, highlighting the nation’s “best and most interesting” colleges and universities.    

The guide highlights the university's strong programs, including marine biology, chemistry, ecology, film studies, creative writing, nursing, business administration and communication studies. It also features more recent additions to the academic catalog including respiratory therapy, digital arts and coastal engineering.  

“Students enjoy extensive undergraduate research opportunities, a slate of solid sciences and...the university’s proximity to the ocean provides motivated students with ample opportunities for fun in the sun and a natural lab for the school’s stellar marine biology program,” it reads. 

Comments from surveyed students include: 

• “Our university places a large emphasis on lab and fieldwork.” 
• “Professors work hard to engage students and help students succeed, even during challenging times.” 
• “We’re a coastal school, so many students are passionate about clean-water programs and recycling.” 
• “Everyone here always seems to be in a good mood and goes out of their way to speak to and help others. Maybe it’s the Southern charm in us, but whatever it is, it sure helps make this laid-back college an awesome place to attend.”
